SPIT!
Did you ever know how gross spit or saliva is. Its very healthy for you, but it can also get you sick. If you share drinks or anything else you can become very sick. i was sitting in class on Tuesday and Sal asks a student to come up and help with him something. He needed some one to put their saliva into a spoon. After he filled the spoon up Sal started talking about saliva. You share you spit when you make out, and drink out of someone else's cup, and many more. After Sal was done talking he asked the student if he wanted to take back his spit. He said no! If you were the student would you take you spit back? I know that i would not either.

It's interesting how we can't come up with a logical reason for why putting our own spit back into our mouths is "gross," yet it still revolts many.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was really nasty to even look at the saliva- let alone take it back. Saliva on its own is actually pretty gross (slimy) and so I think that is part of the reason of why it is gross. I sleep at night with a retainer because I had braces and at first I was really discusted b/c the saliva gets into the grooves in the retainer. It's just nasty stuff but it's also necessary to have it to live!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I would not take the spit back. I also agree with Artem; why can't we think of a real reason for not wanting to take back our own saliva? Is it socitey? I think it has been put in our heads that saliva out of your mouth is gross. I think it might be because it seems unsanitary or that we might get sick.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone that taking back your own spit would be gross. Eventhough it is something that originated from you, there is just something about it that is disgusting.
ReplyDeleteya I also agree its nasty, but nobody can really explain why. Its just something that is viewed by most people as discusting.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that saliva is healthy, yet it can make us sick! I would not put back the saliva that was in the spoon because just like sal said once it reaches the spoon it's not called saliva anymore, its called spit! ew gross!
